What you are agreeing to when you enrol.
Last updated
These terms cover classes booked with Français Lingua Voyage. They are written to be read rather than to be survived, and if anything here is unclear, ask us before you pay rather than after.
Who you are dealing with
Français Lingua Voyage is an online French school founded and run by Elizabeth Chuks in Nigeria. Classes are live and one to one. Your classes are not passed to a different instructor without your agreement.
What a programme includes
Every plan includes live one to one classes with your instructor, a programme built around your goal and your level, a recording of every class you attend, written feedback on your work, direct access to your instructor on WhatsApp between classes, and a certificate of completion at the end.
How many classes a week, and how long a programme runs, depends on which programme you choose. Each programme page says what it involves, and we confirm the schedule with you before you pay.
Classes are online and live. You need a stable connection and somewhere you can speak out loud.
Certificates
The certificate you receive at the end of a programme is a record of the work you did with this school. It is issued in your name and it says what you completed.
It is not an accredited language certification and it does not prove a CEFR level to anyone. Only accredited exam bodies can do that. If you need an official certificate, the exams that provide one are the DELF, the DALF, the TCF and the TEF, and we prepare students for all of them. A certificate of completion is not a substitute for any of them and should never be presented as one.
Paying
Enrolment happens over WhatsApp. We confirm that a slot is free at the time you want, agree the plan with you, and send payment details. Payment is made in advance of the period it covers.
Nothing is charged automatically. There is no subscription, no stored card and no recurring payment. When a plan ends, it ends, and starting another one is a conversation.
Prices are shown in Nigerian Naira and in US Dollars. Which one applies is agreed before you pay. International students are given a payment method that works from their country. Any transfer charge your bank adds is yours.
Changing a class time
Occasional rescheduling is fine with reasonable notice, and we will move a class wherever the calendar allows.
A permanent change of your regular slot depends on another slot being free. Your instructor teaches a fixed number of hours a week and every one of them is reserved for one student, so a permanent move is sometimes possible and sometimes not. We will tell you which.
Missing a class
Tell us in advance and the class is rescheduled where possible.
If you miss a class without notice, that class is counted as taught. The hour was held for you and nobody else could take it. Because classes are live and one to one, a session you do not attend is not recorded, so there is no recording of it. Your instructor will tell you what the class was going to cover and where to pick up.
If we have to cancel a class, it is rescheduled at no cost to you, at a time that works for you.
Refunds and cancellation
Your instructor prepares each programme individually. That means planning, materials, and a reserved place in a calendar with a fixed number of hours in it. Once payment is made and your place is confirmed, fees are not refundable.
That applies whatever the reason, including changing your mind after registering, deciding not to continue, becoming unavailable, a change in your personal or work schedule, deciding the programme no longer suits you, or being unable to attend for personal reasons.
Ask your questions before you pay. We would rather talk you out of a programme than take payment for one that does not fit.
Before your first class
If you cancel before your first class has taken place, your fee is refunded in full. Tell us before the first session and the payment is returned. Once teaching has started, the section above applies.
Missed classes
Missing a class does not qualify for a refund, whether the absence was planned or not. Where the programme allows it, your instructor may offer another reasonable way to catch up on the material.
Rescheduling
If you know in advance that you cannot attend, tell us as early as you can. Rescheduling depends on another slot being free and is not guaranteed. It does not entitle you to a refund.
Technical problems at your end
Online classes need a suitable device, a stable connection and power. If you cannot attend because of your own device, internet or electricity, that does not qualify for a refund.
If we cancel
If a class cannot be delivered from our side, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule it or offer an alternative. If we cannot deliver the service and cannot reasonably reschedule, we will review the situation and agree an appropriate remedy with you, which may be a credit, a rescheduled class, or a refund for the affected service.
Duplicate payments
If you pay the same amount twice, contact us with proof of payment. Once it is verified, the extra payment is refunded.
How a refund reaches you
Refunds are returned by the same route the payment arrived. For payments from outside Nigeria this can take longer than a card refund would, and we will tell you what to expect when we agree it.
What is expected of you
Turn up on time, or say in advance that you cannot. Do the work between classes, because that is where most of the progress happens. Treat your instructor with the courtesy you would want in return.
Class recordings and materials are for your own study. Please do not publish them, sell them, or share them with people who did not pay for them.
If things go wrong
If you have a problem with a class, a payment or anything else, tell us first. Almost everything is settled in one conversation. If it is not, say so plainly and we will put a resolution in writing.
What is not promised
No teacher can guarantee an exam score and anyone who does is selling you something. We will tell you honestly at the start whether the level you want by the date you want is realistic, and we will tell you if it is not.
A stable internet connection on both sides is needed for a class to happen. If a connection fails on our side, the class is rescheduled. If it fails on yours, tell us and we will do what we can.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Nothing in these terms removes any right you have under the consumer protection law of the country you live in. Where that law gives you a right we have not offered here, that right still applies.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Changes apply to plans agreed after the change, not to one you are already part way through.
